Fruit stands are synonymous with small town country living. And a perfect example of that is right here in North Central Washington where many large and small family farms and orchards dot the landscape from river valleys to mountain towns. Some I've mentioned in this spotlight are conveniently located along several state routes from Leavenworth to Okanogan and Quincy. As your traveling along the highway between here and there, the nature of fresh fruit beckons you to stop, stretch your legs, and taste the freshest produce you can buy at one of the many nostalgic fruit stands that have stood the test of time.
The fruit stands I've highlighted in this post are especially unique in that they offer more than just fruit. The "modern" fruit stand now may have a restaurant, home decor & gifts, local crafts, wine and beer, petting farm, and specialty foods that are hard to find anywhere else and most often are small-batch produced within the region. AND they all have lovely outdoor places to rest and enjoy the moment. Not to mention EAT for hungry travelers. And yes! Some even have animals.
