WENATCHEE'S favorite social hub
A historical steel warehouse turned into a thriving market space, Pybus Public Market has happily become Wenatchee's social hub for many locals and a fun destination spot for tourists. 'Pybus' is a place where history meets the future in an indoor open-air setting where restaurants and merchants offer an ideal place to meet for coffee, have a playdate, consume happy hour, enjoy date night, socialize with friends, dinner before a show, shopping fruits/vegetables and specialty goods, host an event, rent a bike, and jump on and off the Loop Trail.
Pybus Market houses 20 year 'round tenants and is open 7 days a week, 362 days a year. The building is a football field long and offers a range of products, including baked goods, fruits, vegetables, meats, seafoods, cheese, wines, beer, flowers, oils and vinegars, sweets and a handful of very good restaurants. BONUS: free Wi-Fi to the public! Below are very good reasons the locals love this place and why you should too!
1. GREAT RESTAURANTS AND HAPPY HOUR WITH A RIVERFRONT VIEW
What's even better about this market is that it is one of the ONLY places in town where you can sit outside and enjoy a river front view. We especially enjoy coming down to Pybus any time of year to take advantage of happy hour at FIRE. (see "12 Wenatchee Happy Hours for HH details). Where else can you go for a Smoked Paprika (fancy pepperoni) Pizza, a glass of beer AND a glass of wine for around $15! If your kids are with you, right next door is ICE, a popular spot serving fresh Gelato and Sorbetto made from scratch. You can order right from your (FIRE) table as the two are part of same restaurant family.
Other options are to pick up soup at Mikes Meats, savor Blue Star Coffee and fresh baked pastries from Cafe Columbia, grab a brew at Wenatchee Valley Brewing Co., enjoy a glass of wine and cheese plate from Jones of Washington tasting room and Cheesemonger's, and purchase huge, fresh Honeycrisp apples at Royal Produce for less than the grocery store price.
2. purchase LOCAL FRESH PRODUCE and handmade artisan goods
Wenatchee Farmers Market, located in the parking lot of Pybus Public Market, operates three seasonal markets on the grounds of Pybus Public Market May - December on Saturdays 8 - 1 pm and Thursday nights 3 - 7 pm. All of the vendors grow and make the products they sell. From fresh ingredients, a grab-and-go meal, or a gift for someone special, there are many unique merchants and artisans to discover.
3. shop novelty goods
Pick up a little something for yourself or give the gift of jewelry or premium olive oil. Specialty merchants like BALSAMROOT BOUTIQUE are the perfect place to pick up a gift of hand-made jewelry and small-batch artisan goods. Arlberg @ Pybus Market not only has bike rentals, they have just started to offer fun and unique gift items and clothing that is fun to peruse. A few other notable places to pick up a gift or taste specialty foods is D'OLIVO, where you can taste the premium flavor of over 25 aged balsamic vinegars and ultra-premium olive oils.
4. HOP ON THE APPLE CAPITAL LOOP TRAIL or visit downtown wenatchee
Directly out the back door of Pybus is the Apple Capital Loop Trail. A scenic 12 mile loop trail winding along both sides of the Columbia River. Stop and view the beautiful art sculptures displayed on the Loop Trail and throughout Wenatchee and beyond. In fact, if downtown is where you are headed, next to Pybus Market is a pedestrian bridge over the train tracks landing you right Downtown Wenatchee Avenue.
5. GRAB AN ESPRESSO AT THE AIRSTREAM AND LET YOUR KIDS COOL OFF
Sipping an espresso or grabing a bite to eat for breakfast or lunch at Hot Rodzz Espresso, is a beautiful place to sit outside, enjoy the weather, and listen to the splash of the fountains. Located in a vintage Airstream just outside the Market, Hot Rodzz Espresso is a good and easy stop to pick up a breakfast burrito or a sandwich for lunch.
6. HOST A PARTY IN THE EVENT CENTER & PATIO
Pybus Public Market has a large events room, commercial kitchen and outdoor patio available to rent for your next big event. From weddings, memorial services and birthdays …. to non-profit fundraisers and company or association receptions, the Pybus Event Center can accommodate groups from 25 people up to 200+.
