Often time we ask ourselves, "what should we do today?".   And often times, we take a drive to Lake Chelan since there is so much to do, see, and taste.  A popular destination for wine tasting and lake resort living, Lake Chelan is one of our favorite places to explore and is only 35 minutes from Wenatchee.  Some days we take a drive to eat lunch, other days we find a sandy beach to swim, or wine taste, or shop in downtown Chelan.  Whatever we do, we always have a good time playing around the lake.

As you may already know Lake Chelan is resort living at it's best located in the middle of Washington state.  Sun shining an average of 300 days a year, and a 50-mile long lake busy with Summer activities of boating, swimming, kayaking, camping, and just good ol' outdoor leisure.  What you may not know is all the great places you can eat, shop and wine taste when visiting downtown Chelan, Manson, and Southshore.

I've laid it all out for you in a nutshell.  Here you go!

SHOP 'Visual indulgence' everywhere.

Stroll the shops downtown Chelan.  An easy 3 block stroll in and out of shops, tasting rooms, and restaurants.   The boutiques represent Chelan's casual lakeside lifestyle from bathing suits to better sportswear for women and men, to tasteful home decor and gifts.  I love to come up here on a warm day and meander thru the shops with a laissez faire attitude and enjoy the relaxed lakeside energy.

I enjoy visiting Black Dog/Lush Chelan for visual eye candy of beautifully curated clothing, gifts, furniture, and decor. As their motto goes 'visual indulgence everywhere'.

The OG (original) of boutiques in Chelan is Blue Moon.  They've been selling lakeside resort wear in Lake Chelan for as long as I can remember selling to them Tommy Bahama clothing 20+ years ago.

You'll most likely walk away with something you can't live without.

The Vogue

The Vogue

Italian, Mexican, BBQ, Seafood, Coffee, Wine......

When you've worked up an appetite from shopping and want to enjoy a food and/or beverage break, take pleasure knowing you have good choices just steps away.  If a beverage to quench your thirst is all you are interested in, there are several places to enjoy a glass of vino, cold beer, or refreshing cocktail in town.  The Vogue, Campbells, Rocky Pond Winery, Stormy Mountain Brewery, and Steelhead Cider come to mind.

What's your flavor? Italian, Mexican, BBQ, Seafood, Coffee? There all there.  If you are looking for a place to taste wine,  bite to eat, to enjoy the view and sit outdoors, then you'll want to visit one of the many wineries in the area that have restaurants attached to tasting rooms.   See more places to eat in Manson and Lake Chelan.

Enjoy the drive to a quaint village with 13 tasting rooms, a casino nearby, and multiple wineries with a view.

Manson, the Northshore area of Lake Chelan, is home to several estate vineyards, Mill Bay Casino, and a small quaint village with enough services you won't have to leave the area for days.  Manson, an popular tourist area of Lake Chelan, is dotted with one HUGE boutique (Allisons of Manson), several established burger and pizza places, 1 brewery and 13 wine and cider tasting rooms within a 3 block area.   If wine tasting and dining on a vineyard with a view sounds good, a few wineries on the Northshore will give you that.  Such as Tildio Winery, Benson Vineyards, and Chelan Ridge Winery.

When it comes to restaurants, Blueberry Hills, reigns supreme among the locals.  If you want finer winery dining, Wapato Point Cellars is a good choice.  For a more casual dining experience outdoors, you'll want to check out BBQ at Lake Chelan Winery or one of several Grills in Manson.

Last I heard, there are close to 30 wineries surrounding Lake Chelan.   A wine destination for sure, Chelan has many wonderful tasting rooms  in the downtown Chelan, Northshore or South Lakeshore areas of the lake that will provide you a full day of tasting.  See more tasting rooms in Northshore and all around Lake Chelan.

Siren Song

Siren Song

Take Woodin Ave. from downtown Chelan to South Lakeshore Road.

You can either go north to Manson/Northshore, or you can go to South Lakeshore if you're starting from downtown Chelan.  Southshore will have beautiful wineries/restaurants with a view and a well loved state park to provide a whole day of adventure.   It can be an all day drive if you are the scenic tour type.  Once you leave Chelan you've got a number of water sports rentals along the way to entice you if you want to veer off course.  But if wine tasting, lake viewing, and walking is appealing to you, then South Lakeshore is a good fit.

Eating on Southshore is a finer dining experience.  With the exception of Watson's Alpenhorn Cafe, your options are limited to a great view and winery setting.  I can do that!  The three wineries listed below,  Siren Song, 18 Brix Restaurant, and Sorrento's are all within a winery setting and have wonderful cuisine to savor.   See more places to eat in Lake Chelan.

All of these exceptional tasting rooms have a view of Lake Chelan.  All of them are a wonderful experience in wine tasting.  See more tasting rooms in Lake Chelan.

Watsons Alpenhorn Cafe

Treat the family to a milkshake and take a walk along the lake.

Head further south to Watson's Alpenhorn Cafe and treat yourself to an awesome milkshake in serene setting by a babbling brook. Across the street is Lake Wenatchee State Park (below), a good place to stretch your legs and walk along the awesome shorefront trail. Bring your swimsuit!
